renowned Swedish/American artist Tore Asplund, NA, AWA, (b.1903-d.
1978). Mr. Asplund was born in Sweden, & his family immigrated to
New York City when he was about one year old. After high school, he
studied at Grand Central Art School & at the Art Students League.
When WW II broke out, he joined the Army. He quickly became a recognized
combat artist whose works bear the names "D-Day Down the Nets", the
"Gunnery", & "Lady Liberty". After the War, he returned to painting
in NYC. He received many awards & honors.
